HeapzeroBot

If you see this name in your logs, here is what it is.

Heapzero is an iPhone app for the things people save to read later. When someone saves a link to your page, our server fetches that one page, once, so the app can show that person a summary and a link back to you. HeapzeroBot does not crawl, follow links, or fetch anything nobody asked for. It does not use your pages to train AI models.

What it does

• Identifies itself with a user agent containing HeapzeroBot.
• Follows robots.txt before fetching a page.
• Does not read a page marked noai in a robots meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header, or marked as paywalled with isAccessibleForFree: false.
• Reads no images, video or audio from your page.
• Does not keep your page's full text. It keeps the link, your page's short description and the summary.

How to block it

Add this to your robots.txt. The link stays saved for the person who saved it, and they open it on your site.
